Re: Any kindergarten pointers? I just sent my 3rd child off to Kindergarten a few weeks ago and all is well, but I clearly remember sending my first to Kindergarten- what do you know, my son was fine, I on the other hand was an aboslute mess and even cried. Ok I was the only parent in the Kindergarten classroom crying, but like I said I was an aboslute mess!
From my experience the schools really cater to the Kindergartener's and the teachers are always aware of the little details. I was so worried that my child would get on the wrong bus, or not know which stop to get off of, but- everyone is aware of the Kindergartners and really hand walk them to their next destination for several weeks; ie: Cafeteria, Library, Bus Loading etc..
Like Adreamer said we too ALWAYS talk about our day at dinner. Who the kids played with at recess, who they ate lunch with, any new friends, new activities? Also, on the first day of school I always make a special treat for them to come home to. I have made cookies in the past, but this year I made a cake in the shape of a big pencil. The kids really enjoyed this and it made for fun conversation about the first day of school over a big slice of cake.
Good Luck- You'll do great! |
