Default Re: Doctors

my dad's has had a sinus infection for over a month now.. he hates doctors! mostly because they call him an "uncooperative patient" or an "04" as he calls it (based off of some seinfeld episode???).. so anyways, they call him up and chew him out for not coming back in regarding the status of his sinus infection.. so he goes back in, jokes to the doctor about trying to get up to an "02" status in which case, she laffs cuz she knows exactly what he's talking about (apparently, they do write in the margins if your uncooperative or what not?) and that day, he slowly moved back up from an 04, to an 03.. to an 02 and apparently, she gave him the meds he wanted this time that he knew would knock this sinus infection out.

it's interesting because you know your body and how some medications react with your body to produce the results you need - yet doctors don't trust you to tell them what's wrong or how to fix it....why is that? hahaha i know that erythromyacin kicks out a sinus infection in my family like nobody's business, yet the doctor gave him some generic that didn't do the trick last time and yep, as suspected, he got the actual meds and is feeling much better already. then again, maybe some of it has to do with mental awareness too.. i suppose if i gave him a sugar pill and told him it was erythromyacin, that sinus infection would be gone in a matter of days!

interesting on how it all works out eh?

I have to agree also, that i kinda wish my ob/gyn was my doctor doctor... cuz at least she listens whereas my doctor only goes by what "my doctor" thinks is happening.
