Doctors OK, so I had a physical this week. I haven't had one in two years. In Sept, 2003 I got fed up when I was pushing into a size 16 in bridge clothes (which are usually cut more generously than the lower price point). And two years ago my medical stats were not looking pretty.
So I started the Strong Women program of weight training and aerobics and started South Beach. At this point, I don't say I'm on a diet. I just eat differently. I eat less fat, no refined flour, no sugar, whole grains, legumes, less protein--very lean, lots of veggies and fruits, etc.
2003 2005
Weight 169 151 I have more muscle which weighs more
Size 14-16 8-10
Cholesterol 211 203
HDL 66 80!!!!
LDL 117 103
Triglyceride 142 98!!!!!
Fasting Blood Sugar 123 120 I still need to reduce this
I need a new doctor. The bozo didn't look at my 2003 stats. He called and just started lecturing me that my cholesterol was high and that I should eat better and lose weight. And he told me I was borderline diabetic and would probably become one. I reminded him that these stats were much better than two years ago and he had nothing good to
say because he couldn't be bothered to look at them.
This is in direct contrast to my OB/GYN who saw me in Oct. He took one look at me, consulted his chart, and asked if I had lost so much weight on purpose. He knew that if I hadn't done it myself, there was a problem. He's a real doctor!
So much for making me feel good! |
