yeah, they're gone for 6 weeks of training... but in it's defense, it's really not THAT bad! for one thing, that type of training only happens when your switching airplanes and moving up the line.

recurrent training is usually once a year for 3 days and "change of base" training is about a week depending if your changing bases and/or planes. but when you switch planes, it takes longer to train.

the pilots still get the weekends off (for the most part) but they usually stay close to the hub in order to study - so you can always go visit (altho your more of a distraction than a help).

but honestly, you say it like it's the end of the world and it's not... it's two months of studying/hard work on their part - two months of patience & miss you on our part and a lifetime of better income/more stability/change of pace for the relationship. not to mention that it really does spice up the relationship when they get back home because you/he missed being together so much.

most couples don't get the chance to spice it up like we do with the lifestyles we live...

so look at it as a glass of milk half full instead of half empty...you have to think of it kindof like "everyday is a move up the ladder" and it only gets better and in time, you'll be doing the same thing us long timers do and you'll say "no sweat!"

plus, you can always use it as "me" time and get to know yourself again - gain new strengths, do new things that you've been wanting to do.. better yourself so that when he gets home, he's more than a happy camper because you were able to live "without him" for a period of time!

not to mention that it might actually freak them out some because you WERE able to live without him! the mark of a strong woman (who can hold her own when/if she has to) is something every man wants.

and you always have to remember -> at your lowest times, you can only go up!
