What I have read: two weeks of nonperishable food that does not require heating or water. Also, 1 gallon of water per person, two week supply.

I keep all of my stash on shelfs in the garage, so we could load it in the car if needed. I buy diapers/ wet wipes at Sams Club and keep those on the shelves also. I buy when there is a sale, but I buy A LOT. Canned goods are on sale this week : 10 for $5.00. So, I will probably buy $20- $30 worth. I use it, and just restock the next time it goes on sale.

I do the same with cereal and the snacks the kids like. I just stocked up on cake mixes and pasta last week when it was on sale.
