Default Flying with DH, etc

Michelle's post elsewhere got me thinking....

Have you ever flown with your DH or whatever while he was the pilot? My situation is different than most in that I did not marry a pilot. Charlie became a pilot while we were married.

One time he decided we needed to visit his parents in Tampa. He borrowed a friend's Cessna 152 and we "flew". For most of the trip the cars on I 95 were going faster than we were. At about 3 AM we needed fuel and were nearing the Charleston airport. They didn't want to let us in. They demanded to know what type of aircraft and what our fuel status was. They had to let us in once they knew. It turns out they were in the middle of an Air Florida hijacking to Cuba scenario. The hijackers could not speak English. The airport folks could not speak Spanish. I ended up translating roughly for them--enough to get the situation settled. We all took off and lived happily ever after.

So we got to Florida and DH's dad invited him to golf. Now Charlie, hates golf because he finds it boring and unathletic. His father was a 2 handicap. So he was pleased at the thought and recongition as his son. It turns out that his dad had his foursome; he just wanted Charlie (who thinks the GAME is boring) to ride along and WATCH the boring GAME. So is that why he felt compelled to buy a second BMW motorcycle? He needs to ensure that his life will always have excitement????

I don't understand--help me please.

And then there's the time in which he let our six year old son fly the plane (I was in the back) from Chincoteague to Philly. And then there was the time in which the door flew open and I had to try to hold it close till we landed. And then there was the time that he couldn't figure out how to land in Canandensis PA so we could have dinner at the Inn. It was uphill on a mountain. He figured it out and we dined.

So, did you ever have wonderful flying experiences?
